Reporting a wrong estimate
If a calculator gave you a number that turned out wrong on the ground, that is the most useful report we can get. To make it easy to check, please include:
- Which calculator you used: the planner, or the mulch, topsoil, gravel, sand, concrete, paver, fence or cubic yard page.
- The share link for the estimate. It holds every area, depth, material and allowance you entered, so we can reproduce exactly what you saw. (Anyone with the link can see the inputs, so leave out any you consider private.)
- What you expected and what you got: for example "the calculator said 4.2 yards, the supplier delivered 4.5 and I had a third left over", or "the 60 lb bag count is higher than the 80 lb count times 1.33".
- What you actually bought and how it worked out. Real jobs are how we find out whether a waste allowance or a density is realistic.
- Your device and browser, for example "iPhone, Safari" or "Windows laptop, Chrome", if the problem is with the page rather than the numbers.
Corrections to the data
Every density, bag yield and typical depth on this site is listed on the methodology page with its source. If a figure disagrees with a manufacturer's current data sheet, a standard or an extension publication, send the link to the source and we will check it and update the data; the change is then recorded in the changelog. Figures from other calculator sites are not treated as sources, because that is how wrong numbers spread.
Suggesting a material, bag size or guide
If your supplier sells a material the calculators don't list, or a bag size you see in stores is missing, tell us the product and, if you can, where its density or yield is published. Suggestions for guides are welcome too; the most useful ones come with the question you were trying to answer and where the existing answers fell short.
Before you write
Many questions are answered in the FAQs at the bottom of each calculator page, the guides cover mulch coverage, concrete bags per yard and gravel weight in detail, and the methodology page explains the formulas, rounding and limits.
Business inquiries
Advertising and partnership questions can go to the same address. The calculators, data and guides don't carry paid placements, and a sponsor can't change a density, a depth recommendation or a product mention.
